Broken Wall, Broken Lives

The consequences of Political decisions

This poignant art project captures a devastating moment in the history of Tirana, which unfolded in 2013. It sheds light on the deeply unsettling situation when the government decided to return lands that had been seized by the communist regime over half a century ago to their original owners.

The repercussions of this decision were catastrophic, resulting in the destruction of numerous houses and apartment blocks that had been legally occupied for years. Families were rendered homeless and destitute, their lives shattered in an instant.

The artist, through a depiction of the troubled and restless souls of these displaced individuals, aims to highlight the gravity of the situation. Drawing inspiration from the broken walls of their homes, the artwork is a poignant representation of the trauma and turmoil experienced by the people affected by this heart-wrenching event.

The project serves as a powerful reminder of the far-reaching implications of political decisions and the devastating impact they can have on the lives of ordinary citizens. The artist hopes to raise awareness about this issue and inspire people to take action to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
